Netball is a fast-paced sport enjoyed by many people regardless of age and origin. Netball has been CHIJ’s core and elite CCA for the past 8 years. The relentless training and hard work from the girls in the Netball School Team have paid off year after year, bringing glory and pride to the name of the school.

Under the close and dedicated guidance of the coach, Ms Kok Mun Wai, both ‘B’ and ‘C’ Divisions have been continually rising to great heights despite the tough competition from the other competing schools. Though facing stiff competition from long-time rival school Raffles Girls’ School and the up-and-coming Singapore Sports School, our girls fought hard till the very end, emerging as the champions and 1st runner-ups in the National Inter-School Netball Championships for both ‘B’ and ‘C’ Division respectively. Their outstanding results are remarkable indeed, and it is all thanks to the girls’ persistence, coach’s assistance, teachers’ attention and the school’s support.

The Netball Recreational Club plays competitive and friendly games. Each year we form a few teams to play in recognized Netball Carnivals organized by Netball Singapore.

A part-time coach will be in charge of training the girls once a week and ensuring that they acquire the necessary skills to prepare them for the games, either friendly or competitive. Last year, the Netball Club took part in Pesta Sukan 2006 and emerged first runner-up. It was an incredible game made up of newbies as well as seniors from Secondary One to Secondary Three.

The resourceful club committee also organised an overnight camp for its members to foster a greater bond between team members and to also bid farewell to their wonderful seniors and mentors. 
In short, as a club we do more than equip the students with the skills for a game of netball as our programmes also foster the values of self-worth and perseverance and focuses on the holistic development of every student.
