CHIJ ELDDS gives students the opportunity to showcase their talents in the various aspects of the theatrical and language arts.  Under the direction of the teachers-in-charge, CHIJ ELDDS has achieved a solid record of excellence in literacy and the performing arts.

Drama
In 2005, ELDDS took part in the SYF Central Judging for Drama and clinched a gold award for the second consecutive time. 

Drama Night is also held annually where students benefit from sharpening their dramatic skills and in understanding and executing aspects of staging a production which includes technical skills which include make-up, sound production, stage managing and stage crafting.

Debate
The CHIJ Debate Team participates in numerous competitions which include the prestigious Singapore Secondary Schools Debate Competition and the NUS Challenge Shield Debate.  With intense training, the girls from the Debate Team are given opportunities to have fun and sharpen their argumentative skills.
