The CHIJ Concert Band
conducts our very own concert, Fantasia, annually, in
which members get to showcase their talent and hard
work. This year, the band took on a new challenge of
running our concert for two nights - A feat that proved
successful. The prospect of performing to 1500 people
over two nights was somewhat overwhelming to our members
initially, but under the dedicated guidance of our band
director, Mr Leonard Tan, and the unfailing support of
our teachers-in-charge, the band managed to pull it off,
rousing warm applause from the audience on both nights.
The band was also extremely delighted to have our very
own Campus Superstar, Joanna Teo, perform with us for a
medley of Teresa Deng songs. She managed to leave many
astounded with her wonderful performance.
Hours of preparation for this big event, which included
an intensive band camp in March, and practices after
school hours, as well as on Saturdays, paid off in the
end. Being precise to the minute details, Mr Leonard Tan
helped the band achieve the utmost perfection for each
piece and with a touch of musicality from all its
members, the CHIJ Concert Band sound resonated through
the concert hall, captivating the audience with the
repertoire for the concert. Ranging from classical songs
that soothed, to a few pop numbers that got the audience
moving to the beat, the repertoire has anchored the band
a lot more in terms of musicality and the preparation
has taught our members many invaluable lessons, such as
commitment and hard work.
Overall, the 18th and 19th of April proved to be an
unforgettable night for every single member of the CHIJ
Concert Band and carries with it experiences that will
eventually help us strive for even greater heights
together as
One Band, One Sound, One Heart, One Mind.
